Pros:
- Solid board for a low price
- Dual LAN which includes one Gigabit connection
- DDR memory still supported
- 8 channel onboard audio
Cons:
- Not the best for extreme overclocking and high performance tweaks
- More SATA cables should be included in packaging
The Motherboard
The Albatron PX915G is a solid little motherboard that provides good
value orientated overclocking. While this may sound somewhat
un-appealing, don’t let this turn you off. For high-performance users
this probably isn’t the motherboard for you. But for normal users and
general gaming, this is an excellent board for a good price.
This motherboard includes onboard video and on board sound. The integrating
video is an option that most users probably will not utilize. However, if
you are on a budget and can’t buy all the hardware you need up front to get
this system up and running, the integrated video is sufficient to survive on
for a few months. Sound quality with the onboard audio is actually very good.
While having no Serial ATA Raid support, Albatron has added an ITE controller
chip that supports a Dual Channel IDE controller. This chip provides basic
IDE RAID systems, more than adequate for the audience this motherboard will be
targeting. And it is good to see Albatron is offering at least some form of RAID
for users. The lack of more than one included SATA cable is odd though, given
this board is designed with SATA as the primary hard drive connector and has 4 channels.
Setup was very simple with this board. All connection points are clearly marked. Layout
of the board is excellent as well. You do not have to unplug or remove components to
add memory or change out drives as we have seen with other motherboards. The blue PCB
the motherboard is based on is very nice to look at as well.
The documentation that Albatron has included is superb. I especially liked the two
quick install guides as for the first time user they definitely helped, especially
installing the processor into the new socket.

Adding It All Up
Overall the PX915G Pro emerges as a good value, entry level PCI Express motherboard. It
didn’t amaze me, but it’s quiet stability and solidness is what is attractive. For most
users, you shouldn’t have to think about the motherboard. It should just work well. This
motherboard does that, but gives you good features to increase performance a bit if you
wanted. High-performance users might shy away from this board if they want better overclocking
options, but that should not deter you from considering this board.
Because of the great stability and good entry level PCI Epxress option, we are
awarding the Albatron PX915G Pro motherboard the UpgradAdvisor.com Recommended
Upgrade seal of approval.!!!
