PDX LAN 4 Notes
April 5, 2005
From March 18th to the 21st we were in Portland for PDX LAN 4. There was 4 days of
gaming, prizes, and fun... oh....and don't forget about the rain. The rain did not dampen
anyone's spirits though. With close to $50,000 in prizes given out and lots of gaming action,
everyone went away happy.

NVIDIA and BFG teamed up to
provide tee shirts for everyone and plenty of GeForce 6-series graphics cards
for the event. Along with the cool swag and prizes, NVIDIA and BFG teamed up to
host standing-room only presentations about new technologies, like SLI and
nForce 4 for Intel CPUs. SLI was
on many gamers' minds - and they had a lot to look at - NVIDIA showcased a pair
of machines featuring its new nForce chipset for
Intel CPUs - complete with a pair of GeForce 6800 GTs running in SLI mode in
each system! Local water cooling experts DangerDen also made quite a splash with their custom machines -
all watercooled, and ALL SLI.
What's PDXLAN all about? PDXLAN is about gamers having fun -
while it does offer competitive tournaments for the most-skilled gamers out
there, it also offers many opportunities for the rest of the community to win
some great prizes, in the form of raffles and creative contests like the ones
mentioned above. So if you're a gamer, get PDXLAN
5.05 on your calendar in August! The West Coast's largest LAN will
double when it showcases its first "PDXPO" August 11-14. PDXPO
will combine a 1,000 person LAN with the Northwest's first ever tech expo of its
kind in Portland. Be sure not to miss it!
UpgradeAdvisor.com brought some hardware from Antec, Thermaltake, Chaintech, LG, Viewsonic,
Lite-On, Logitech, Corsair, AMD, Microsoft and others to game on. Keep an eye out for reviews on all this stuff!!
Look for UpgradeAdvisor.com at PDX LAN 5 in August. We are working on coming up as a sponsor with lots of
swag and prizes to give away including an entire gaming rig. We will post the details as they are worked out.
