If you are a gamer, you always need that extra edge over the next person and you can get it by
upgrading to a better video card, processor, or faster hard drives. All of which are quite expensive
to upgrade. Another option to boost your gaming is upgrading to a high resolution gaming mouse.

Getting Started
There are several companies that have developed gaming mice that work very well. Logitech has the MX518 and the
G6 and Razer has its Copperhead. New to the market is BTC with their new 2000 dpi gaming mouse. The BTC M873U
is the mouse we are taking a look at today.
When I first looked at the mouse it did not look like a gaming mouse to me. After I installed the software
and started to use it for a while it started to act like a gaming mouse. The software that comes with the mouse
is easy to use and you can reprogram every button on the mouse to do almost anything you want. With the 4 buttons
and the scroll wheel you have plenty of options for those frequently used buttons. 2000 dpi resolution is the next
best thing in the gaming world. You would not want to miss the last kill by only a pixel on your 1600 dpi mouse
would you? The M873U has 5.8 Mega Pixels/second image processing power and has an expanded 16-bit data format for
supporting the blazing fast moves with exceptional precision. The M873U has an adjustable dpi which can easily be
set in game from 2000, 1000, and 500 dpi resolutions.

Usability
With being a somewhat hardcore gamer I have always tried the newest hardware to get an extra edge on
my game. Some have been good and some bad. I like to be comfortable when I am gaming and a hand cramp
can mean a win or a loss in a tournament. The M873U to me is one of the most uncomfortable mice I have
ever used. The minute I laid my hand on it and started to use it my hand started to hurt and after a while
it started cramping. I think the reason for this is the two ridges where your thumb and ring fingers are
positioned. These ridges do not let your fingers go to their natural positions. When I wasn’t gaming the
scroll wheel would sometimes not work scrolling through a document or a web page. Sometimes it would try
to change the track of the song that I was listening to or turn up and down the sound when I was only trying
to see the next page in my browser. This is a huge problem while in the middle of a game. Imagine trying
to switch weapons and it just turns down your sound.

Adding It All Up
With its 2000 dpi and the on the fly adjustability of the resolution while in the middle of a game, this
new mouse from BTC has good promise. If you are looking at getting a new mouse and want one that will be
comfortable and still give great performance in anything you do, the BTC M873U might not be the best
choice. If BTC were to change the design of the mouse to fit the hand more naturally and fix the issues
with the buttons, the M873U wouldn’t be too bad a mouse.
