Getting Started
If there is one area where the HP Deskjet 6540 Printer lags behind, it is the
setup and installation. After six different steps (and clicks), and a moment
where the connection wasn’t recognized, I finally had the printer installed and
ready for action. All went smoothly thereafter.
Appearance
There is no doubt that HP has mastered the art of printer
design, and the 6540 model is no exception. The solid, sturdy frame is touched
up with just the right amount of gloss for a clean look without drawing too
much attention to itself. After all, it is a printer, not a centerpiece.
Features
- Up to 4800 x 1200
optimized dpi color (HP Premium photo paper, 1200 x 1200 dpi input)
- Up to 20 pages per minute color, 30 black
- 5,000 pages per month
- Automatic paper-type sensing
- Borderless printing (up to 8.5" x 24")
Pros:
- Very solid, heavy construction
- Quiet
- Classy look
- Quality Prints
Cons:
- Finicky installation process
- Price (slightly higher than comparable models – make sure to take advantage of HP’s various
package bundles and instant rebates)
Adding It All Up
I can safely recommend the HP Deskjet 6540 Printer to a wide variety of users.
Quick little print jobs? No problem. Multi-colored birthday party invitations?
You got it. High-quality 8x10’s suitable for framing? Absolutely. This printer
covers all the bases.
A special thank-you to HP for providing this fine product for review on
